Guided tour

Enjoy an in-depth visit and learn all about Tarragona Cathedral.

Discover 2,000 years of Tarragona's history by visiting the different areas of the Cathedral with a guide.

Located in the highest part of the city of Tarragona, the Cathedral stands on the site where the Temple of Augustus was located in the time of the Roman city of Tarraco. The Cathedral bears witness to an exciting two-thousand-year history you'll be able to appreciate firsthand, learning all about the different periods in history the Cathedral has lived through and enjoying the impressive artistic heritage of which it forms a part.

This tour takes place in groups and lasts approximately one and a half hours. It includes a visit to the central nave with a Romanesque floor plan that's surprisingly well-lit, where you can admire the impressive Gothic-style rose window of the main façade, as well as the magnificent Renaissance organ and meticulous Gothic reredos at the main altar. The guided tour continues through the largest Romanesque cloister in Catalonia and the rooms of the Diocesan Museum with its collection of medieval and modern art, as well as the Archaeological Route that takes you along the perimeter wall of the imperial city of Tarraco.
