This summer, Tarragona Cathedral is once again opening its doors in the evening for a new edition of Summer Nights, a series of concerts that combines live music, heritage and a glass of cava in the cloister, one of the city's most emblematic locations.
Following the success of the first edition, the series returns with a revamped format and a more extensive programme. From 24 July to 5 September 2026, every Friday and Saturday at 9 pm the Cathedral's nave will host a total of thirteen concerts that offer a different way to enjoy the summer evenings in Tarragona.
Concerts at Tarragona Cathedral every Friday and Saturday
The Summer Nights programme provides a cultural experience that's more than just a concert. The live music is performed in the Cathedral's nave, a monumental setting steeped in history, and the evening concludes in the cloister with a glass of cava.
This combination makes Summer Nights one of the most special cultural events of the summer in Tarragona: live concerts, a first-class setting and a tranquil finale in the cloister to savour the experience a little longer.
Fridays: organ recitals at the Cathedral
Fridays will be devoted to organ recitals, featuring Jordi Vergés and Jonatan Carbó. The organ is one of the Cathedral's most unique features and a jewel in its musical crown.
Jordi Vergés, trained at the Tarragona Conservatory and the Barcelona Municipal Conservatory of Music, completed his organ studies with First Class Honours and an Honour Award by unanimous decision. Jonatan Carbó, an organist from Vilafranca del Penedès and organ teacher at the Barcelona Municipal Conservatory of Music, also enjoys an extensive career as a performer in both Catalonia and internationally.
Discover the rich sound of this historic instrument in an exceptional setting with the Friday concerts.
Saturdays: jazz, traditional music and new sounds
On Saturdays, the Summer Nights programme features guest artists and bands with a diverse programme:
- 25 July · Awen Duet. Awen Duet is a musical project formed by Mateu Bauçà on harp and Laura Pont on vocals. Its name comes from the Welsh word Awen, meaning “inspiration”, which is precisely what they aim to convey: an emotional and magical experience that connects with the audience. Through tangos, boleros, havaneres and world music, they create an intimate and evocative atmosphere that invites listeners to travel. A delicate and highly sensitive proposal that turns each performance into a unique moment.
- 1 August · Alba i Santi Careta. Alba and Santi Careta present Sons d’un país, a musical journey through the Catalan Countries that brings together traditional melodies, popular songs and contemporary repertoire. With trumpet, voice and guitar, they offer an intimate proposal that connects jazz with the musical roots of the territory.
- 15 August · Pau i Aina. Aina Hujic Mor and Pau Hernández Alenyar form a viola and piano duo that champions Catalan music from an international perspective. Their programme combines works by Catalan composers with great classics from the European repertoire.
- 22 August · GOIG. GOIG is a musical and stage proposal inspired by goigs and popular devotions. It recovers the oral heritage of inland Catalonia and reinterprets it through a contemporary sound that combines subtle electronics, unadorned voice and organic instruments.
- 29 August · Gerard Flotats. Gerard Flotats is one of the young Catalan cellists with the greatest international projection. Awarded in prestigious competitions and currently training at the Royal Academy of Music in London, he will offer a cello concert with piano accompaniment.
- 5 September · Cobla La Mitja Lluna. Cobla La Mitja Lluna is a traditional music group from Tarragona that recovers and brings new life to Catalan musical heritage. With traditional instruments and a repertoire ranging from early music to folk dance, they offer a performance full of vitality and popular spirit.
